A recording and rehearsal space in the Macedon Ranges
Field Day Recording Studios
Located on Dja Dja Wurrung Country, an hour from Melbourne, in between Kyneton and Woodend, in the small hamlet of Tylden, sits Field Day Studios.
Designed, built and run by Melbourne, via Europe, via Melbourne, songwriter, musician and composer, Andrew McCubbin, Field Day is the culmination of many years of dreams and hopes for a studio in idylic country surrounds where musicians can get out of the city, stay and record with accomodation on site.
Located in the grounds of Applewood Gardens, the space can be used for recording, rehearsing, intimate gigs and showcases, film clips as well as accomodation for bands touring Kyneton, Daylesford, Castlemaine and surrounds.
The centrepiece of the studio is an Otari MX70 16 Channel tape machine, not to mention the 100 year old Chappell Parlor Grand Piano.
You can hire the studio and bring your own engineer or use Andrew McCubbin or Gary Aspinal as house engineers. Click here to see rates.
In his inner city studios, Andrew has recorded the likes of Conway Savage (Bad Seeds), Hope Addicts, Hilda Green and Belle Pheonix to name a few.
His own music has received the accolades of “Single of the Week” and “Single of the Year” for songs such as “The Fog Song”, “The Last Breeze” and “Blue” as well as “Album of the Week” for “Where Once There was a Fire”, “Dead Pilot” and “Hope Addicts” and “Album of the Year” for “Where Once There was a Fire”.
His various bands have supported acts such as Adrian Belew (David Bowie / Frank Zappa / Talking Heads), The Creatures (UK), M Ward (USA), Micah P Hinson (USA), Morphine (USA), The Cruel Sea, The Underground Lovers, Died Pretty, and Hugo Race, Mick Harvey and Conway Savage from the Bad Seeds.
